The IHSA has indeed confirmed (not just in an obscure message on their website but in an email) that the; "IHSA will continue to provide equivalency at this time and are actively engaged in discussions with the Ministry to enhance the criteria used in the equivalency assessment. Updates will be provided upon finalization." - IHSA
It has also been confirmed that organizations seeking COR equivalency through ISO45001 are again receiving full COR certificates instead of letters of reciprocity!
There is no information yet, on what the 'new' equivalency program will look like. However, my guess is that COR style internal audits will be required in the COR Audit Tool going forward. With comprehensive cross referencing of the two standards the COR Internal Audit can be used for both ISO and COR. IMO this is the best way to ensure equivalency and limit duplication (and expense) in compliance efforts.
